5-Day Iran-Pakistan-Turkey "Islamic Art: Calligraphy Exhibition" and 2-Day Calligraphy Workshop at Alharma Lahore
On the occasion of “World Islamic Art Day-The November 18” Cultural Centre of Iran- Lahore (Khana Farhang Consulate General Islamic Republic of Iran-Lahore) in collaboration with the Turkish Cultural Centre in Lahore; Aiwan e Ilm o fann and Alhamra-Lahore Arts Council organized a 5-day Calligraphy Exhibition and 2-Day Calligraphy Workshop from November 18-22, 2021.
The 5-Day Iran-Pakistan-Turkey "Islamic Art: Calligraphy Exhibition" and 2-Day Calligraphy Workshop has inaugurated at Alhamara Lahore Arts Council on November 18, 2021. Mr. Jafar Ronas, the cultural Attaché & Director General Cultural Centre of Iran-Lahore; Mr. Ulaş Ertaş Director Turkish Cultural Centre & Representative Yunus Emre Enstitüsü in Lahore; Mr. Erfan Qureshi founding member of Aiwan e Ilm o Fann and Mr. Ijaz Ahmed Minhas Director of Lahore Museum inaugurated the exhibition.
Mr. Jafar Ronas while giving his speech said: “the aim to celebrate this “World Islamic Art Day” is to raise awareness of past and contemporary artistic expressions of Islamic world, and to express the contribution of culture in Islamic civilization. Art is the common language of humanity and every human being with any nationality or language, understands the beauty of art. Islamic art reveals the beauty and delicacy of Islamic civilization. Iran, Pakistan and Turkey, with their ancient civilization, have great potential for Islamic art. Calligraphy is the most illustrious form of Islamic art and it can be considered as a common artistic language for all Muslims because the art of visualization is the language of revelation. In Islamic art, everywhere, especially in the inscriptions and domes of mosques, the art of Calligraphy is visible.
“The Iranian Cultural Centre in Lahore, in collaboration with the Yunus Emre, Turkish Cultural Centre in Lahore with the coordination of Aiwan e ilm o Fann and Alhamrah Arts Council Lahore is holding this exhibition intending to getting more acquainted through the beauties of Islamic art for the sake of peace and friendship among the Muslim countries”, he added.
Mr. Ronas proceeded: “I thank my dear friends, Mr. Ulaş Ertaş Director Turkish Cultural Centre & Representative Yunus Emre Enstitüsü in Lahore; Mr. Erfan Qureshi founding member of Aiwan e Ilm o Fann; for organizing this exhibition. Insha’Allah, in future, we will see more cultural alliances from the three countries. Long live the Iran-Pakistan-Turkey friendship.”
The exhibition consisted of Calligraphy art works from different artists of Iran, Pakistan and Turkey. The Art works of Calligraphy students of Khana Farhang Iran-Lahore were also part of the exhibition. Handicrafts, Iranology Books, Iran Tourism helping guides and Persian Language learning books were also showcased in the 5-Day exhibition. The 2-Day Workshop has started on Saturday 20th November, 2021. More than 100 students and aesthetes took part in the first day of the workshop. The renowned Calligraphy artists, Dr. Kazim Khurasani from Iran; Mr. Afzal ud Din from Turkey; Mr. Irfan Qureshi; Mr. Irfan Siddiqui, Mr. Khalid Mehmood Siddiqui and Mr. Asghar Ali from Pakistan showed their art skills and taught their special calligraphy strokes to the to the learners. This Art workshop cum exhibition will continue till Monday; November 22nd, 2021.
